Tailor-Made Data Centre Airflow Solutions

Not every data centre follows a standard layout. Racks vary in height, rows change direction mid-aisle, ceiling clearances differ between zones, and legacy infrastructure creates gaps that off-the-shelf products cannot fill. When the standard product range does not fit, EziBlank designs and manufactures custom airflow management components built to your specific dimensions.

What We Customise

EziBlank’s tailor-made service covers any physical airflow management component that needs to fit a non-standard space:

Custom containment panels. End-of-row panels, ceiling baffles, and wall sections built to match irregular row lengths, non-standard rack heights, or offset rack positions. If your containment needs a panel that is 1,743mm wide instead of a standard size, we manufacture it.

Custom blanking panels. Panels for non-standard rack widths or proprietary rack formats that fall outside the 19-inch, 21-inch, and 23-inch standard range. Also includes panels with custom cutouts for cables, PDUs, or monitoring hardware that needs to pass through the blanking plane.

Custom floor tiles and grommets. Directional airflow tiles, high-airflow tiles, and floor grommets sized for non-standard raised floor grids or unusual cable penetration configurations.

Retrofit solutions. Components designed to work around existing infrastructure that cannot be moved: overhead cable trays, fire suppression piping, lighting rigs, and structural columns that interfere with standard containment layouts.

How the Process Works

Every custom project follows the same sequence:

1. Site assessment. We start by understanding your facility layout, the problem you are solving, and the measurements that matter. For most projects, this involves drawings or photographs of the installation area, rack layout plans, and the specific dimensions needed. For complex projects, EziBlank engineers can consult directly with your facilities team. An example of this process in action: SRA Solutions recommend EziBlank for data centre airflow management.

2. Design and specification. Our engineering team produces a design and material specification based on your requirements. All custom components use the same flame-retardant ABS (UL94-V0) as our standard product range. Designs are shared for approval before manufacturing begins.

3. Manufacturing. Custom components are manufactured at our facility. Lead times depend on complexity and quantity, but standard custom projects typically ship within 2 to 4 weeks of design approval.

4. Delivery and optional installation. Products are shipped directly to your site. For facilities in the Sydney metro area and selected regions, on-site installation is available. For remote sites, we provide installation documentation and support.

When You Need Custom Solutions

Some situations come up regularly:

Mixed rack heights in the same row. When a row contains 42U racks alongside 45U or 48U racks, standard containment panels leave gaps above the shorter cabinets. Custom panels fill these gaps and maintain the containment seal.

Legacy facilities with structural obstacles. Older data centres were not designed for hot aisle/cold aisle containment. Columns, overhead piping, and cable trays often sit exactly where containment panels need to go. Custom panels are built with cutouts or angles that fit around these obstacles.

Non-standard rack formats. Government, military, and broadcast facilities sometimes use proprietary rack formats that do not match the EIA-310-D or ETSI standards. Custom blanking panels can be manufactured to fit these racks.

Partial containment in constrained spaces. Edge data centres, server rooms, and repurposed commercial spaces may not have the ceiling height or room layout for full containment. Custom partial containment, including overhead baffles, end-of-row seals, and vertical curtains, can be designed to fit the available space.

The Standard Range

Before starting a custom project, it is worth checking whether the standard EziBlank product range already covers your needs. Many facilities find that a combination of standard products fits their layout:

Blanking panels are available in 19-inch, 21-inch, and 23-inch widths with both Standard and Universal mounting options. Hot aisle containment includes modular wall panels, end-of-row doors, and ceiling baffles in standard sizes. Floor tiles include directional, high-airflow, and standard perforated options. Brush panels and grommets handle cable penetrations through racks and raised floors.

If the standard range covers 90% of your needs and only one or two components need to be custom, we can manufacture just those pieces. There is no minimum order for custom work.

Profiling Your Facility

For facilities that are not sure where to start, profiling your data centre is the first step. A facility profile identifies the airflow management gaps, the rack configurations that need attention, and the specific components (standard or custom) required to close those gaps.
